Spurts, news, and product photography
I do all my work in spurts. Last month Instagram for whatever reason favoured my photography a real lot, and it coincided with my internal motivation to dig out some native flower gems from my extensive collection and post them nearly daily. It was exciting and at the same time exhausting, so I definitely need a little break from socials.
In another news, I halved my working hours and now do my day job just for two days a week, and that will last for February - then I intend to concentrate on my photography (and my life overall)! It means that now I have three days a week to do what I love, meaning all things photos.
A friend of mine recently asked if I could photograph her jewellery collection, and it’s such a great practice for me and for my studies! So today I decided to dive in, learn and try some ideas with my own pieces. First, I went to Bunnings and Officeworks to pick up some props (have to be creative - samples of kitchen skirting for $1.98 each are great little backdrops or stands!), then watched some video tutorials, unpacked my gear and dived right in. When in the zone, I completely lose track of time - here it is midday, and here it is 4pm already. I don’t own much for product photography, so the setup is clunky and topples over from time to time, but for now that has to stay minimalistic.
Here are three favourites out of 150 or so, great experience! My brain is completely overloaded and needs some well deserved rest tomorrow :)
